Model Does Black Face for French Vogue

French Vogue did a shoot with Dutch model Lara Stone. She portrayed a woman of color. I wonder why they just didn't use a REAL black model.

Painting white people black for the entertainment of other white people is offensive in ways that stand entirely apart from cultural context. France and Australia may not have the United States’ particular history of minstrel shows as a form of popular entertainment going back to the 19th century, but something about the act of portraying a white woman as black ought to sound an alarm, somewhere.

Australia? I'm not very shocked provided the Harry Connick, Jr incident when he guest-judged on "Hey Hey It's Saturday." But they do this sort of thing often in entertainment. They even did a photoshoot this a few seasons back on "America's Next Top Model."
